Artist | Naturalist | Storyteller

I’m Celia, inquisitive, passionate, and enthusiastic (possibly to a fault). I have lived what some would consider an atypical life, but at every turn I have followed the things that fascinate and excite me.

At the age of 11, my parents decided to homeschool my siblings and I so our family could hike the Appalachian Trail. This may be why I will never be ‘normal’ by anyone’s standards, but it taught me that I could do anything.

Love of art tipped the scales when I took my first glass blowing class. Before long, I was enrolled in art school at Rochester Institute of Technology for Glass & Glass Sculpture. My thesis body of work spoke to my love for the natural world and concern for the challenges it is now facing. My show ‘Language of Loss’ dealt with themes of endangered species, light pollution, over-fishing, and more.

I then joined the Corning Museum of Glass’s Blow Glass at Sea Team, giving glass-making demonstrations and narrations to guests aboard three of Celebrity Cruises’ ships. While at sea, I met a network of naturalists, and they recruited me to their team of enrichment speakers.

Traveling the world, sharing both my love of art and the environment, I’ve travelled to 55 countries and all 7 continents speaking to audiences totaling over 75,000. Whether in Alaska or Australia, Canada or New Caledonia, nature inspires my art. That art, in turn, expresses my love of wild places and concern for the natural world.

Through my art and my work as a naturalist I hope to educate, engage and inspire!
